Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

Picture
An Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor records your blood pressure on multiple occasions over a 24 hour period.

This test provides a more accurate assessment of your blood pressure.  For example, this monitor can be used to identify patients who have falsely-elevated blood pressure readings when they visit their doctor (ie. "white coat" hypertension).

To apply the device, an inflatable cuff will be placed on your upper arm.  This cuff is then connected via a tube to the monitor.

Please do not shower, bathe or undertake watersports whilst wearing the monitor.

When the pressure in the cuff increases, please avoid excessive movement of your arm and let it hang loosely. Avoid flexing muscles or moving the hand and fingers of the cuffed arm.

Please do not remove the cuff between blood pressure measurements.

Please return the monitor to Victoria Heart reception by 10:00 am on the following morning.
